In Feng Shui philosophy, the horse 馬/马 ( mǎ) symbolizes strength, loyalty, nobility, freedom, speed and perseverance. It is believed that if you keep a horse statue in your home or business, it will strengthen and enhance all the good traits and characteristics it represents and you will have a constant flow of inspiring energy to keep you moving ahead in life.

Chinese fish statues are traditionally given as gifts with hopes of bringing good luck to the receiver. The Chinese character for fish 鱼 (Yú), sounds very similar to the Chinese character meaning “abundance", "plenty", and "affluence" 裕 (yù). Therefore, fish are a symbol of wealth and are an important symbol of luck and prosperity in Chinese culture. The fish is part of the 8 Buddhist symbols, golden fishes in pairs; are symbols of fertility and represent salvation from suffering.

According to tradition, a carp that could swim upstream and then leap the falls of the Yellow River at the Dragon Gate (Longmen 龍門) would be transformed into a dragon. According to legend, all the carp competed at a yearly competition to leap the Longmen falls; those who succeeded were immediately transformed into dragons and flew off into the sky. Pictures and depictions of carp attempting to leap the Longmen falls have been enduringly popular in China.
